How to Use Nebulizer?
Hygiene is very important as the nebulizer device will be used with medication. Before using the nebulizer, hands should be washed for a minimum of 20 seconds and then dried with a paper towel.
In general, the use of nebulizer as follows;
Open the lid of the device.
Put the medicine given with the doctor’s prescription into the device.
If you do not have a prescription, put the prescribed amount of medication for one dose into the device.
Close the lid of the device and plug in the nebulizer.
Then place the mouthpiece into the compartment at the top of the device.
After connecting the mouthpiece (mask), connect one end of the oxygen tube to the nebulizer device.
Connect the other end of the hose to the nebulizer compressor and start using it.
Place the mask on the patient’s tongue in an airtight manner.
The drug, which transforms into vapor in the nebulizer, is taken into the body by respiratory route.
Breathing with the mask should continue until the vapor is exhausted.
How Long Does Nebulizer Therapy Take?
Nebulizer use should take approximately 10-15 minutes.
How to Clean Nebulizer?
Cleaning of the device is one of the most important points to be considered in use. Cleaning after the nebulization process is completed is very important for the patient’s health and should be done regularly.
Nebulizer device cleaning should be done as follows;
Unplug the product from the outlet.
Remove the medication cup and mask from the device.
Wash the removed parts with soapy water, then rinse with plenty of water.
Apart from these, portable nebulizers and other nebulizers should be cleaned regularly every 2-3 days.
